As a beginning birder a few years back, I was naturally frustrated trying to learn the names of all those birds I was seeing through my binoculars.

My trusty field guide was a tremendous help, but by the time I turned to the index, the bird I was trying to ID was gone in a flutter. But wait!-I wasn’t finished looking…

For me, a video camera was THE answer. In effect, it allowed me to capture those elusive birds and bring them home to study and make a positive ID.
